It’s my entry for the Harry Potter patronus challenge on LEGO IDEAS.
Hummingbirds may be small creatures, but they don’t make weak patronuses whatsoever. Representing hope and spreading happiness all around them, hummingbirds make powerful guardians.
The journey of my submission started with a Bionicle helmet (piece #64330) which I used as a seed piece – it has just the right curve to recreate the shape of this bird’s belly. I had to find a way to build inside it which turned out to be quite a challenge due to the unusual proportions of the helmet piece. Keeping my best memories in mind, I then continued building up the body, added slightly curved wings, a tail and a beak with a wand as its tip. I had summoned my patronus and before my eyes it took the appearance of this gracious animal! I finished it off with a delicate base of trumpet flowers that doubles as a stand thanks to the rubber tire incorporated in the design.
A custom background and some editing later, and here we are! Enjoy, and good luck to all wizards and muggles participating in this challenge!
