⊱ Part of the Desk Companions collection ⊰
Say hello to Philip – the poor thing waited so long to meet you! He sat on my desk for months, unnamed, whistling to himself, awaiting for me to stop being so indecisive. I just couldn’t bring myself to choose what to call him! It’s a big decision. At first I thought something silly like Floof would fit him the best, but how could he ever be taken seriously with a name like that? I then considered naming him after a nut, as the tradition wants, but he replied that he was not a fan of this stereotype and actually preferred chewing on popsicles. At this point I almost gave up and simply titled his portrait along the lines of “baby squirrel”… way too boring. It was time to stop delaying and finally present him to the world: I took a deep breath and paused. Philip. It just came by itself. He was a Philip. And Philip quite liked it, so Philip it was.
Philip was brought to life with a base of acrylics, accompanied by charcoal for extra rich shadows and textures.
