What started as a freeing brush experimentation took an unexpected turn and became a piece inspired by Don Li-Leger, a Canadian artist of my childhood.
After setting the scene using a variety of palette knife brushes and pastels to build up textures movements, I invited a group of feathered little singers to settle in.
Inspired by the color palette which reminded me of the Li-Leger painting my parents own, I completed my artwork with rectangles created with a glaze-like method, with blending mode modifications to enrich the colors without interfering with already-established contrasts. They guide the eyes and create points of interest, aiming to recreate what Li-Leger’s compositions do so beautifully.
Digitally painted. Contact me if you are interested in prints, a digital format, or have a special request.
