I swear this is a real bird, potoos do exist!
And they look just as over-excited as this one! I love them for that, they look so goofy. Since I love painting silly animals, it was a must. I made its plumage fluffy and kept all the attention on its head by using saturated colors so it pops well. The background is pretty simple and gives the impression of a distant forest. I finished it off by having fun with the sides – contrasting, textured brushstrokes that gives the effect of layers of leaves – it’s bold and out of the ordinary, just like potoos!
